The Premiere West Coast Giant Scale Flying Event is at Castle Airport (Atwater, California) on May 24th thru May 27th
At the WRAM Show, we had an opportunity to sit with Steve Anthony of NoBS Batteries and discuss the relative merits of using A123 packs in our giant scale model projects. Steve’s been working with this technology in RPV and robotics applications for 5 years and has had A123 technology available for modelers for the last 4 years. We were curious as to how this technology differs from Li-Ion or Li-Poly and if it’s as dependable as NiCad and NiMH systems for modelers that fly expensive giant scale planes.
The host Binghampton Aeros are working hard to get ready for the IMAA Summer Rally of Giants. The Rally will be held from June 21st thru June 24th.... on their beautiful mowed grass field in the rolling hills of Northern New York. This is going to be a great event, with lots of flyers coming in from all over the country, and Canada. Plan to be there!

The Balsa USA FlyBaby Monoplane is a follow-up to their very popular FlyBaby biplane which was introduced over 30 years ago. This new monoplane version of the Pete Bowers designed homebuilt features a ton of fabricated metal hardware, and even allows the wings to be folded and pivoted... just like the full size. Dick Pettit reviewed the FlyBaby monoplane in the Spring issue of HIghFlight (but we had a technical glitch, and the biplane article appeared with the monoplane photos. We'll get that corrected in the Summer issue. Meanwhile, here's the complete review article.
