Guidelines for IMAA Sanctioned Events
(Effective for all sanctioned events held after December 31, 1994)

1. No IMAA sanction will be issued to a club that is not chartered by the IMAA.

2. In addition to being sanctioned by IMAA all events must also be sanctioned by AMA for insurance purposes.

2.1 All completed AMA Sanction Request Forms should be sent to the IMAA Sanction Coordinator along with the completed IMAA Sanction Request Form. Starting with events for 2004, the IMAA will pay the fee for the AMA sanction.

2.2 All IMAA sanctioned events will be classified with the AMA as Class C Restricted events.

3. All events will have a mileage protection area of at least 100 miles unless an agreement is made between the director of all districts in question and the sanction coordinator.

4. Sanction applications must be submitted no more than one (1) year or less than four (4) months prior to the proposed date of the event in order to be processed and to insure it's publication in High Flight.

4.1 Event sanction applications are required to be filed from four (4) months to one (1) year before the desired date by those wishing to protect a traditional date If a sanction application has not been received within four (4) months of the date to be protected then the coordinator has the authority to assign the date to another chapter.

TRADITIONAL DATE DEFINITION:

Any IMAA event that has been held annually on the same date or weekend by the same chapter for three (3) consecutive years shall be considered a traditional event and shall be allowed first choice of that usual date and take precedence over any other IMAA event, provided that the sanction application is submitted from four (4) months to one (1) year before the desired date. Such traditional dates may be reassigned if no event sanction request is received within such time period. The IMAA Sanction Coordinator along with the director of the district in question is authorized to change, either permanently or temporarily, the date of any event that has traditional status, to help alleviate the problem of internal conflicts. Once a chapter skips one (1) year or changes the date, then that chapter must give up that traditional date and begin to re-establish another traditional date unless the date change was requested by the Sanction Coordinator.
