On the Cover: Winter 2001

The Wedell Williams Pylon Racer, was built by our cover photographer, Rich Cox. Built from a Byron Originals Kit, with an 84" wingspan, and weighs 24 pounds. The fuselage, cowl, wheel pants and landing gear fairings are fiberglass. The built up wings and tail surfaces are covered with SIG Coverall. The realistic dummy engine is from FTE (Frank Tiano Ent.) Painted with Dupont Imron automotive paint, and powered with a 3W-70 twin with home made scale exhaust.

Rich a professional photographer in real life, shot this photo with a Mamiya 6x7 camera on transparency film. Shot at the Simi Valley Fliers Club field. Rich added the pylon and lighting for this outstanding photo.
