The end of another year is upon us. I've been sitting here wondering what I should be building this winter, in preparation of the 2004 flying season.
I've heard from many of you this past year. People have been concerned about the growth of the IMAA. In some people this issue has reached a level of near fanaticism!. At times I feel that the IMAA is the most important thing in some people's lives. In a sense their commitment is humbling. But then I sit back and review my own priorities.
My wife Kellie and I celebrated the birth of our second daughter Amelia. My first daughter Sophia is now three years old. When I look at my gorgeous wife, and my two beautiful children, I realize just how lucky I am. My family has my first priority in my life. They are my present and my future!
What is the IMAA? The best organization that supports what I feel is the best hobby in the world. Is it the most important thing in our lives? I sincerely hope not.
We are coming upon the holiday season. No matter your religion it should be a time of reflection of our past, present, and future. It should be a time to look around us and give thanks to those who support us in our various pursuits.
Do any of you really think there would be an IMAA if it wasn't for the support of your spouses, friends, and family? How many of you have spouses who lug your field box, and sit under a tent in 100 degree weather, when they'd rather be doing something else so you can get in a couple of flights?
Don't let this "hobby" become so important to you that it is no longer fun! Don't become such fanatics that you forget about those who give up their time to support your hobby and can no longer have fun. Take time out and reflect upon your own priorities in life, and give thanks to all who support you in your various pursuits.
Enough of being serious . I invite all of you to join us for the 2004 Rally of the Giants:
We are accepting bids for the 2005 and 2006 Rally of Giants. All you have to do is contact your District Director and submit your paperwork. Remember there is a 2000.00 Grant given to the host club for their hard work and support of the IMAA.
Don't forget that the BOD passed a motion to pay for the AMA fee of 20.00 for sanctioning your Giant Scale event with the IMAA. This change takes effect for events that are sanctioned for the 2004 flying season and future sanctioned events. If you have already sanctioned your event, and paid the sanction fee, the IMAA will be issuing your club a refund.
I'd like to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season. May the season be full of peace and joy that spreads throughout the world for years to come. The children of this planet deserve no less.
Peace and safe landings to you all!!
