Summer 1997
CONVERSE, IN: The 17th Annual Festival, Rally of Giants, will be held June 19 - 22 and you still have time to make your plans to be one of those in attendance. The Central Indiana IMAA Cadets, Chapter 48, will be your hosts and the flying site is one of the most unique to be found, 52 acres of concrete shaped as an octagon to allow 2600 feet of runway into the wind in any direction.
Please note that Converse is also close to Muncie, and a visit to the AMA Headquarters, National Flying Site, and the Museum would be an additional item for your agenda. We are working with AMA to try to set-up assistance in travel between the Festival site and the AMA site in Muncie.
ACTIVE CHAPTER STATUS: Was your chapter included in the listing published in the Spring Issue? At the published cut-off date there were 161 Chapters that had not returned their roster to indicate their continued active status. If your Chapter is one of those no longer listed, please contact someone locally or your Director or the IMAA Secretary to help correct the problem.
The listing of active IMAA Chapters will now be published twice a year in this publication.
SAFETY CODE REVISED: A revised Safety Code was approved at the February meeting of the Board of Directors. A copy of the new code has been furnished to all Chapters in advance of the copy which appears elsewhere in this issue. The code now has all mandatory items listed at the beginning of the code, with a second section added to include additional suggested safety items for your consideration. Please take the time to look it over to ensure you are in compliance prior to presenting your aircraft for inspection at the next event you attend, or if your chapter is preparing to host an IMAA event.
MEMBERSHIP 1NPUT: On behalf of all the Officers and Directors I would like to thank all those members who make the effort and take the time to communicate with your IMAA officials. The input of concerns, suggestions, and comments are welcomed by all of us as we strive to keep your IMAA progressive and growing. Your input may be in the form of phone calls, letters, or casual conversation with them as you meet them at the many fly-in around the country. The key is - talk to US.
