We are entering a new season of flying and growth for our hobby. At the Winter Board of Director's meeting new programs were proposed to benefit our members.
We are moving ahead with the Giant Scale Handbook. The handbook should be available around October. It will be available through hobby shops, and for members, at a discounted price, through the IMAA.
We will also be working with Turner Publishing to produce an IMAA history book covering the first 25 years of our organization. I will be sending out a mailing asking members to send in articles, pictures and memorabilia of the past 25 years. Remember if you send in your pictures, articles, or memorabilia you will guarantee yourself a place in the history book. This hardback book will be available to members, prior to publication, at a discounted price. After publication, it will be available at the list price. Turner Publishing produces books for various organizations, countries, and cities. No IMAA funds will be used in the publication of this book. It is being paid for by advertising and sales.
The IMAA will also be making a direct mailing to members who failed to renew their membership in an attempt to bring them back into the organization. You can help with this project. If you know of someone who didn't renew their membership, talk to them, encourage them to rejoin, and help us bring them back!
I hope everyone saw the 2003 Summer Rally article in the RCM Magazine. The article was a great tribute to our outstanding organization.
Many of you have heard that our Vice President, Bob Bush, has resigned his position. I talked to Bob, and realize that he thought long and hard about his decision. Because of changes in his job, and a huge increase in his workload, he had to do what he felt was best for his family, himself , and the IMAA. His choice was was not easy, but he felt it was best that he step down, and allow someone who could dedicate the time to the position that he was no longer able to dedicate. I respect his decision, and wish to thank him for his service to the organization.
I have heard a lot of positive responses to my last article. I want to thank you for your input, and your continued support. Keep 'em flying, and a safe landing to you all!
