The end of the flying season is here. We have had hardly any rain and extreme heat in Ohio this summer. I think some people feel we live out west. It has been great for flying but terrible for the grass. I flew more this summer than I have for the previous 4 years that I have been President. It has been great to see so many of you. I hope all of you that attended the Rally enjoyed it as much as I did. IMAA's 25th Anniversary was held in Danville, VA. In the next edition of Highflight you'll find an article covering the Rally of Giants. It was sponsored by Flights Unlimited Air Shows, Chap. 734. I would like to thank Jeff Phillips and all that helped for giving us a wonderful event. Their field received numerous upgrades. There was a paved lane into the field, paved parking lots and pilot set up. Also all of the hotels and shopping were located right across the street from the site. I hope all that came experienced this Grande event had as much fun as I did. If not it was your loss.
The IMAA Giant Scale Handbook is still on sale. There is an order form in this issue of High-Flight. It will also be on sale at your local hobby dealer. Please contact Taylor Collins for details. His address is P.O. Box 10189 Albuquerque, New Mexico 87184-10189, Phone: 505-792-4458, and Email: HighFlight@fly-imaa.org.
A lot of you have been calling me about our IMAA 25 year history book. Well, we only received 165 orders and we need 250 to print. So please make your order to help us out and tell your flying buddies if you have ordered one. We are looking for a Mid October mailing right now. They can be purchased through Turner Publishing Company P.O. Box 3101 Paducah, KY 42002-3101. Attn: Justin McGill. Any questions call (270)443-0121
This year I had the pleasure of returning to the Joe Nall memorial flying event after 13 years. The new site, if you have not been there, is breath taking.
I just enjoyed camping out by the 20 acre lake in my motor home. The event was as big as ever and I was shown great southern hospitality. Thanks to Pat Hartness, Kirby McKinney, CD Michael Gregory and everyone else that helped put on this model aviation master piece. I am just honored that it is an IMAA event. Pat and the guys (ladies) have stuck with the IMAA through good times and bad. As the IMAA president I appreciate their support for the 15 years I have been on the Board. If you have never gone to the Joe Nall, you need to attend at least once in your lifetime, it is like going to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the EAA AirVenture.
This is the tabulation of President Hayden's poll taken regarding the Highflight changes. Of the people that replied:
For the people that replied I appreciate your participation.
