Coming soon.... The I.M.A.A. Giant Scale Handbook!

The end of the flying season is here. We’ve had so much rain in Ohio that I think some people haven’t taken their floats off since the spring thaw! It’s almost been easier to tie a kite string on my plane than to worry about taking a transmitter to the field!

At the last Board of Directors meeting we decided to publish a Giant Scale Handbook that will be 128 pages, spiral bound, and 8 1/2 x 11 format. (Tentative retail price $12.95).

We’re planning to include the following articles:

• Brian Wattie’s Phony Fokker Einduckker - Inexpensive Giant Scale WWI trainer style plane, with converted Weed Whacker engine that can be built for under $200. Full Size plans will be available. Handbook will include complete construction manual with photos, drawings, etc.

• Cross Referenced Directory of Giant Scale Plans - Sorted lists by Aircraft Design, by Size, and by Designer

• Giant Scale Engine Drawings - Manufacturers measured drawings with mounting details, etc.

• Giant Scale Servo Directory - Comparison of all popular Giant Scale servos, with specifications of size, weight, torque, etc.

• Monokote Covering article by Toledo Best Monokote Finish competitor Pastor Rick Arowood.

• Painting and Covering • Adapting Full size aircraft finishing and materialsto Giant Scale.

• Control linkages and Mechanics - How to safely and properly rig Giant Scale aircraft control surfaces by Jerry Nelson (Jerry Nelson Enterprises)

• Giant Scale Electrics - How to modify a Giant Scale design for electric power - Buzz Averill

Quantity orders will qualify for a discount. There’s nothing to say that chapters can’t sell the Handbook to raise money. Please keep checking our website and look for advertisements in the winter issue.

A dry & safe landing to you all, and remember…Bigger IS Better!
