High Flight Fall 2001 IMAA Logo

On the Cover: Fall 2001

The beautiful Ryan Sta from the 30's era believe it or not is an 80" wing-span ARF. This new ARF from Great Planes is a review article for this issue on page 42.

The superb photo was shot by Francisco Chanes, using a 2.25x2.25" transparency with Fuji Previa tight grain film, and a slaved strobe light. The location is the now vacated USMC Air Station El Toro in Orange County California. The hanger is authentic WWII and is approximately 1100' from the model for perspective. This is the flying field for 14 clubs including IMAA Chapter 706, the California Giant Scale Squadron. Watch the sanction section for an upcoming IMAA fly-in at this location.
