The next and last set of plans in this review is sort of unusual. They are for the Miles Hawk Speed Six. A low wing, invert engine, two place tandem open cockpit English Light plane. Wing span is 80 1/2 inches and the power again is a 120 four stroke, which would do just great!
Plan Sheet One: the set of plans is all on one big sheet. Fuselage is one quarter square balsa longerons, uprights and diagonals. 1/8 inch sheet balsa formers on fuselage top only and a good size wing fillet. There is also a fuselage top-view which is needed to form the cross pieces to assemble the fuselage sides. The monostrut landing gear is mounted to the wing center section and is heavily trousered similar to the Northrup Gamma. The engine is built-up of balsa and ply and is very simple to make. The wing is built in three sections only the right wing panel is shown. Tail assembly is built up, only the root and tip ribs are shown and you must sand and taper the ribs in between to the proper height and length. There is not very much on this plan, it is very uncluttered, however, if a good modeler uses it, he would build from it, but he had better know what he is doing, and have some scale drawings and be innovative!
Finally, I've said before, I can only review what is
before me. There are many good plans and also lousy ones, and those in
between, all can be built from. It all depends on the skill and
knowledge of the builder. You can get the prices on these plans
