The set of plans are for the Monocoupe 110 Special "Clipped Wing" is quarter scale giving a span of 68 inches. This airplane is also powered by a 120 four stroke.
Plan Sheet One: the fuselage is built up of quarter inch square balsa with balsa and Lite-ply formers. There is an ingenious wire frame that forms the windshield bracing and also provides for the front wing hold-down, a working cabin door is also shown. Firewall is half inch ply and I am in hopes the cowl and wheel pants are available, but I do not know, there is no indication that they are. The landing gear appears to be formed from 5/32 and 1/8 inch wire, but there is no layout for bending or getting the length. All you get is the track which is 16 and 1/2 inches. The tailfeathers are 1/16 inch balsa sheet core with stiffening ribs and a CB tailwheel is shown (here again the new scale tailwheel assembly from Australia could be used). The wing rib pattern is also on this sheet along with a half fuselage top view.
Plan Sheet Two: this sheet has both wing panels and
center section, spars are quarter square spruce and should be made into an
"I" beam, ribs are 1/8 inch balsa. On this sheet is shown the layout for the
firewall, and the engine cowl, with the rocker arm cover spacing. The wing
struts are made from 1/8" x 1" spruce and the strut layout is shown.
The windshield pattern is also indicated. Except for the landing
gear pattern, this is a fairly good set of plans. Of course with the
Monocoupes extremely short nose movement and the long tail
movement, it will probably require nose weight, when with a heavy
120 four stroke. It would be very prudent to keep the tail as light
as possible.
