Hello BIG BIRD Lovers. Here we go again with three sets of plans from Doug MacBrien of 24 Truby Street, Granby, Mass. A Druine Turbulent, an OS-2u "Kingfisher", on floats and wheels, and his newest, the Dalotel. After studying all three plan sets, I have come to the conclusion that Doug's plans are at least as good as Barron's and Brisighella's and in a lot of ways, better!
If you order a set of Doug's plans, you automatically get a flight report on a given engine, the prop used, what RPM to use to get the best performance. Performance at various wing loadings, all measurements, areas of wing, stabs, how much throw to use on the controls and in general you know exactly how the airplane will perform before you glue the first pieces together. I don't know about you, but these are things I try to project before I decide to build a design. I guess what I'm trying to say is, these plans are the most complete I have seen to date.
