The last plan this time is a 90 inch span Gee Bee model "Z" by Don Neill of 1120 S. 10th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68510. The plan is on three sheets. Sheet One: Shows the fuselage left side view. It is hard to tell from the plan but I believe the fuse is constructed on a crutch and then the formers added. I received no instruction, only two sheets of construction photos. The cowl is 15 1/2 inches in diameter the fuse and fin and rudder are completely built up of balsa and ply. The part of the fuse that is metal covered is simulated by 1/8 balsa planking.
Second Sheet: Shows both wing panels and all rib templates and the built up shock absorbing landing gear. Wing panels are plug in type and are built on two spars with 3/32 sheet ribs. Ailerons are built up and are of the friese type. Complete drawings and dimensions for the built up shock gear are also on this sheet. Flying wires are shown and must be used as they are functional. The method of making them is very unique.
Sheet Three: Shows a fuselage top view some bulkhead templates and the fuse crutch template. the built up stab and elevator drawing is also shown.
There is a Fourth Sheet that has two fuse formers on it. Don says the weight of this airplane is 33 pounds and power required is a Sachs 3.7. I would assume that a fiberglass cowl and wheel fairings are available, but they aren't mentioned anywhere on the plan.
This is a good plan and with the yellow and black color
scheme it should make a very striking airplane, both in the air and on the
ground. I don't have the information on the price, so you will have
to contact Don Neill.
