I'm wondering who else in my area (Gloucester, VA) is on this forum? Where do you fly? My club has only two large scale pilots and was hoping to meet up with some other folks and watch & learn. Thanks, Frank

Hi Josh. I'm a member of GAMA but am looking for some more IMAA members in my area. I would like to learn more about these big birds. WRT to a warbird, I'd like to get at least a 60 size or bigger. I have always been fascinated by the WWII era planes. Frank |

Frank, Have you tried contacting your local hobby shop and see if they can help you out. We have a few around here that have helped out clubs with things like this in the past. Josh |

Josh, My LHS is pretty far from the CVA club where I believe the BAGS fly at. I was hoping to catch one or two of them here as well as hook up with some IMAA members a little closer to me. Frank |

I just went through there on Sunday. I could not believe all the snow on the ground! It sure was beautiful, but the roads were terrible. How is it looking now? Frank |

Frank: Bill Coada here. There are about 4 of us not far from you that fly big birds pretty exclusively. Currently I have 3 50% birds that I am building/flying. I'm getting ready to maiden my 50% cap with a 3w240 on it, and also a Yak with a 3w342 on it. Figured I'd maiden them both first at a Turf Farm closeby. I also have 4 40%'ers that I fly pretty regularly over at CVA field, and the SHirley Plantation. Both fields are about 45 minutes from you via I64. You can call me at 804-363-2991 if you like. Look forward to hearing from you! Bill Coada IMAA 18019 |

| I remember when 40% was BIG.................But I also remember when landing a .40 trainer was my only goal in R/C. Man I was happy then.............LOL |

Mark, AMA has a cool new event search feature located here: http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/calendar.aspx and in their forum, I started a D-IV thread of events and happenings: http://www.modelaircraft.org/forums/tm.aspx?m=3419 That should also help you keep in touch with events. I try to visit as many of these local events as I can. Frank |
