District VIII News

District VIII Update Posted: Nov 02 2009

We just had our event at Bomber Field and what an event it was. It was one of the largest turnouts that we have had in the south in quite a while. If you missed the event then you really missed out on a great time, but luckily we are going to have the Rally of Giants in May at Bomber Field. Everyone needs to put this on their calendar so that they will be sure and not miss the event. Also just had our District Mini Fest. It was held at Mt. Pleasant Texas and the local club members did an outstanding job under adverse conditions. It had been raining for over a solid week and the ground was saturated. The local club worked around the clock pumping water off of the field so that the event could be a success. The abundance of rain has really been hindering a lot of the turnouts to events over the last couple of months.

I have been in contact with Josh  Price of Ft. Smith Arkansas and he has agreed to come in and Co-CD an event with me at a neutral location. We are looking at sometime next year on having a IMAA 3D event somewhere in the district area. If anyone is interested in being a host field or knows of a good  place to have an event of this nature then please get with me or Josh. We are working very hard to erase the image that IMAA is about only warbirds. Granted warbirds are a very important part of IMAA we are only trying to broaden our horizons. I too have warbirds and enjoy them but we want to find an event so that the 3D guys can stretch their legs as well. IMAA is about inclusion and not exclusion and we aim to prove this with this type of event.
