Crosswind Flight Safety

Two recent model aircraft accidents and one that occurred a few years ago have common factors. They resulted in considerable damage to the flying aircraft, parked aircraft, and a serious threat to pilots and crews, These accidents happened close to people but fortunately no one was injured. Although these particular accidents were obviously not predictable, the flight circumstances are identifiable for caution to be exercised in conjunction with other factors that may lead to serious flight safety situations.

How to keep "HOT FUEL" from becoming "FIREWATER"

Storing and transporting gasoline used in our engines ought to be a simple proposition - just get a good gas can. Apparently it isn't that simple as we still see people using improper containers and equipment for mixing and storing. This is one time that what's "handy" can lead to a fire danger - or worse.

It's really surprising to see how many propeller tips are left unpainted - especially when it's obvious a lot of work and money have gone into the model.

Make those prop tips VISIBLE!

Probably the single factor that is more dangerous in big models than standard birds is our props. The big clubs that we swing cover a lot more space, and a lot of our "Old-timers" are sporting scars from tangling with them. There are a couple of people who collected more than just a couple of scars.

IMAA BOD Meeting – 1/9/2009

President Bill Hamby called the Winter Board Meeting together at 8:08 a.m. The Vice-president, Secretary/Treasurer, High Flight Editor, and all directors were present. Guests present were AMA President David Mathewson, AMA Executive Jim Cherry, IMAA member, LM 589, William D. Unghire, Jr. and his father, William Unghire, Sr.

IMAA BOD Meeting – 6/27/2008

President Jim Giffin called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m. All directors were present except that Dist. 4 Director, Josh Bunn was delayed because of flight cancellations. Also present were the secretary treasurer, legal advisor, High Flight editor, safety officer and sanction event coordinator. Guests were AMA President Dave Mathewson; AMA Government & Regulatory Affairs, Rich Hanson; MAAC President Richard Barlow; MAAC Vice-President Claude Melbourne as well as some IMAA members.
