IMAA Article System

VP Update – May 2010 – Website info

Register versus Log In

In October 2009 we put on line this new website with several changes as to how we will maintain your membership information. Until every member has the chance to use and understand the new the advantages that it offers we will continue to educate with articles in Highflight and here. Our goal is to have every member give us a e-mail address for the reasons that are explained below.

You can now print your own Membership Card at any time by following these steps:

· Go to our web site http://www.fly-imaa.org and select the (Log In) link in the upper right corner. Do not (Register), as a member, you are already registered.

· A new page will appear with a block for (User Name) and another for (Password). If you are using the site for the first time, enter your IMAA number in both places, select (Login). If you have already created a (User Name) and (Password) use those. Note: Should your IMAA number begin with a zero, do not enter the zero as the computer does not recognize a zero as a prefix. IMAA life members make sure to use UPPER CASE for your number. Example-LM999

· A page will appear with your name and below the (IMAA Membership Status) blue bar there will be a link, (Print Membership Card). Click on it and a page will come up with your card. Print your Membership Card on card stock or paper. Should you lose or misplace your card it can be printed again. Print out extras for your transmitter case.

· You will notice that the block that previously said (Register), now has (Your Name). You can click on this link, which will take you to the page that contains your personal information. You can create a new password, change your address, e-mail, phone number or profile at any time and even add a picture or icon that appears when you reply or post a message.

WHY IS THIS INFORMATION IMPORTANT TO YOU?

You now have the ability to change your personal information instantly. Should you be a snow bird, north to south in the winter or south to north in the summer you can change your address to assure you receive Highflight at the new address. Bear in mind the publication date of each issue and make changes well in advance of the next issue that you want to arrive at your new address. You and you alone will be responsible for keeping your personal information up to date.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS?

The IMAA does not release the personal information of members, including e-mail addresses, to anyone. It is stored on secure servers owned by the professional firm operated by our Webmaster and is used only for IMAA official use. You will now receive e-mail notification of your membership expiration date 30 days prior to expiration. This saves us, you and I, several thousand dollars a year in postage, paper and envelopes, not to mention the labor time involved. Should you not have an e-mail address, I encourage you to ask your spouse, son or daughter to use their account. If you have access to the internet, there are several free e-mail systems available such as Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail.

The IMAA now offers the ability to use PayPal to pay your dues on line. Once you select the PayPal button to renew your membership, you are sent to the PayPal site. You do not have to be a member of PayPal and they accept most credit cards. Your information is maintained on the secure site owned by PayPal. The IMAA does not have access to your credit card information.

In closing, should you choose not to use the new e-mail and PayPal system we will continue to welcome and serve your membership, via the US mail.

Best wishes and thank you for your continued support.
